modern Japanese pottery

Hanako’s technique and philosophy are rooted in the ceramic traditions of Karatsu, Japan where her family’s history in pottery stretches back several generation. But years spent living in the West has influenced her shapes and surfaces. Her wide variety of simple functional forms are carried in many galleries and shops throughout Japan and the US. She currently divides her time between studios in Japan and Maine.

Every day is different. Just like you change what you wear based on different seasons, occasions and your mood, I hope you enjoy the changes in everyday life through how you use pottery.
